Online Safety Tips
As with any dating an air of caution is always a good thing. Below are some tips that we recommend you follow to help ensure your safety when meeting or chatting with someone you do not know very well - both on and off line.
Meeting new people:-Words of wisdom from Luuvee
- Be cautious with your personal details. Be sure you can trust someone before divulging your personal information. Be aware of the details in your profile – could your profile identify you before you are prepared to reveal who you are?
- We recommend that you set up an anonymous email account specifically for dating sites. Messages can then be forwarded to your usual account.
- We do not advise you contact Members on your mobile or home telephone. If you decide to do so please ensure that your caller ID is withheld for your own protection.
- We do not keep any correspondence, emails or instant messaging chat which takes place between Members using Luuvee and we would advise you to keep your own records for your personal reference and protection.
- Trust your instincts and use common sense. If you feel harassed by or under pressure from anyone you can block the person from contacting you. To block someone you must log into your account on Luuvee.com and then search for the person whom you would like to block. Once you find them, view their profile and click the "Block this Person" icon on their profile page. This will prevent that person from contacting you with a chat, flirt or email message through Luuvee.com. If anyone has been abusive or aggressive towards you in any way, please report it to us immediately at abuse@luuvee.com.
- If anyone mentions their financial troubles, be cautious of their intentions.
- Never give out any financial information under any circumstances. Please tell us immediately if anyone asks you for your financial details. Our terms and conditions strictly forbid any form of solicitation through Luuvee. This includes links to pay-per-view sites, chat line numbers, other dating sites and even charitable causes.
- If you use sexual references in your user name it will make you stand out of the crowd but it may not attract the type of person you are looking for.
- Be honest from the beginning. It’s a key factor for a successful relationship, so stick to the truth and ensure your photos are true likenesses of you!
Getting to know someone: Are they telling the truth?
If someone sounds too good to be true, that may well be the case! Be aware of anyone who appears to be lying in any way, telltale signs are:
- speaking in hushed tones or ending conversations abruptly;
- questions answered with questions;
- refusing to give straight answers;
- giving too much or inappropriate information when they do not yet know you well;
- Declaring undying love very early on in your communications.
Early dates.
Let’s keep it safe and fun!
When planning your first few dates:
- Always ensure that you share your plans with someone who you trust and who can be available to you in a short space of time if things go wrong. Make it clear to your date that your whereabouts are not a secret.
- Ensure that the first few dates are in a public place that you know and arrange your own transport to and from the venue. Do not let your date pick you up or drop you home.
- Never go anywhere remote or private on the first date such as hotel rooms, cars or the home of your date.
- Feel free to end the date whenever you want, remember you’re in control and you get to choose.
- Take a mobile phone with you on your date; make sure it has battery and credit. Make sure your meeting place has a reasonable signal in case of emergencies.
- Be sensible with alcohol. Being drunk is never attractive and may inhibit your judgement and compromise your safety.
- While on your date do not leave any personal information or valuables unattended at any time.
- Make sure you keep track of your drink, never leave it unattended and ensure you are around when it arrives.
And finally...
Always use a condom!
